Symposium expounds potential of digital pathology

DEFINIENS invites pathology and biomarker development professionals to its 3rd International Symposium, to be held at its Munich headquarters on 14-16 June 2012.

It describes this annual event is the premier forum for trends in histology, tissue-based biomarker development, and biomedical image and data analysis, bringing together experts from around the world to share experience.

This year’s keynote lecture will be delivered by Dr Frauke Bentzien from Exelixis, a pioneer in quantitative digital pathology.

The Definiens Symposium offers the opportunity to network with peers and learn from renowned experts. A one-day pre-conference workshop provides training on the latest Definiens technologies for image analysis and data mining.

Nobel Laureate Prof Gerd Binnig, founder and CTO of Definiens, will share his vision for the next generation of pathology tools, while experts from AstraZeneca, GlaxoSmithKline, Johnson & Johnson, Novartis, and Roche, among others, will contribute insights from their work.

“The digital pathology market is transforming, and quantitative approaches allow us to unveil the real value of digital slides. By bringing together thought leaders, experts, and users, the International Definiens Symposium provides a very stimulating forum for learning about the future of this exciting field”, said Thomas Heydler, CEO of Definiens.

Previous Definiens Symposia were held at the Spanish Cardiovascular Research Centre in Madrid (2010), and the Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, USA (2011).
