PHOTRON’s new Fastcam SA7 has been designed around the needs of high speed imaging applications such as automobile safety testing, and can record high-resolution video frames at up to 3500 frames per second (fps).
Employing a specialist CMOS sensor recording at 1280×1024 pixels, the company says it can deliver ‘outstanding’ image quality with its 12-bit ADC (analogue to digital conversion) and high light sensitivity (ISO 5000 for monochrome, ISO 2500 for colour).
Photron reports that the Fastcam system has already been selected by a leading car maker, where it will be used for high speed image capture and motion analysis at a recently-commissioned vehicle safety laboratory facility recently commissioned in Japan.
This new high-speed camera is designed to offer high performance in a compact package, the company says, and is equipped with a gigabit ethernet interface for operation and control through Photron Fastcam Viewer (PFV) software.
