INSTEAD of having several devices to cope with the various liquid handling operations seen in a typical laboratory, Integra Biosciences offers the Viafill to perform several different tasks. The machine will cope with dispensing bulk reagents, offers multichannel pipetting, and even washes microplates.
Viafill from Integra promises versatility in liquid handling
Bulk reagent dispensing, at volumes from 5ul to 10ml, uses a variety of pre-sterilised and autoclavable tube sets and is compatible with standard microplates from six-well to 1536-well. An optional plate stacker enables the system to operate unattended.
Viafill operates as an automated multichannel pipettor using the GripTip kit. Reagents are aspirated directly into the pipette tips, rather than being pumped through the tubing set, to facilitate serial dilutions and other complex applications while saving expensive reagents. The GripTip kit also means that a few plates can be filled without needing to sterilise the entire system.
A further option is the Wash Module, which transforms the Viafill into a plate washer and aspirator. Supernatants can be aspirated from plates and collected, while plates are simultaneously rinsed with a wash solution.
