THE Peltier-driven EchoTherm IC50 chilling/heating dry bath from Torrey Pines Scientific promises tight control of sample temperature, to within 0.1C over a range from-10 to +110C.
The unit’s temperature probe is inserted directly into the sample or sample block, sensing temperature directly and using that information for precise control.
Another sensor in the heater plate allows the user to set plate temperature, using the probe to monitor sample temperature.
The IC50 can freeze, chill or heat samples in assay plates, centrifuge tubes of all sizes, vials, test tubes, and most other sample containers.
It is suited to the molecular biology lab for doing hybridisations, sample prep for PCR, ligations, enzyme reactions and deactivations, says Torrey Pines.
As well as digital display and control of temperature to 0.1C, the device has a 30-day countdown timer (days, hours, minutes and seconds), a surface hot indicator lamp, data logger, and RS232 port.
Measuring 165mm wide by 222mm deep and 89mm high, it comes complete with 100 Watt chiller/heater module and universal power supply, and is UL, CSA, and CE compliant.
