COHERENT’s Obis family of laser modules has just been expanded with the addition of Obis six-laser remote, which integrates the control of up to six separate lasers to make the range compliant with the latest CDRH (US Center for Devices and Radiological Health) requirements.
The company says this new accessory not only simplifies and integrates the operation of several lasers, it also reduces costs by enabling all six lasers to be powered by a single 12V electrical supply.
To meet CDRH requirements, the Obis 6-Laser Remote incorporates a master on/off key switch in addition to colour-coded flip switches on the individual lasers. CDRH is the division of the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) responsible for the regulation of most laser emitting products in the USA.
The remote measures 105x68x36mm, the same dimensions as the existing Obis single laser remote.
Coherent says its Obis range brings plug-and-play simplicity to OEM applications in life sciences, metrology, and inspection. The choice of wavelengths makes the lasers useful in areas as diverse as flow cytometry, confocal microscopy, and array readers for drug discovery.
The new remote control enables the Obis range to be used as standalone lasers in laboratories, research, and instrumentation.
