A RANGE of optimised chromatin immunoprecipitation (ChIP) assay kits for use in genome research has been launched by Chromatrap, a subsidiary of Porvair Sciences.

The new Chromatrap ChIP assays have uses in many areas of genomic research, including qPCR and DNA sequencing.
The assays can also be used for extractions from formaldehyde fixed paraffin embedded samples (FFPE) using either spin columns or 96-well filter plates.
The company says Chromatrap ChIP assays offer simplicity and efficacy, enabling the isolation of more IPs from less material, more quickly than traditional methods
This has made them popular with a growing number of leading genetics research laboratories worldwide, it adds.
The Chromatrap 24 column ChIP-qPCR kit offers a choice of sonication or enzymatic DNA shearing, and is available with Protein A or G coupled filters for optimal DNA pull-down.
For peace of mind and confidence in method validation, a new premium version of the kit which includes positive and negative control antibodies is also available.
This is said to be useful where the target antibody has not been validated in ChIP before, as this can often give unexpected results which are hard to interpret without the use of controls.
