SYNGENE’s latest gel documentation systm is aimed at the laboratory where space is at a premium but high resolution gel images are still required. The InGenius3 is a budget gel doc and fluorescence analysis system, which comes with a 3megapixel CCD sensor, a compact darkroom, and three lighting options – UV, blue, and white.
The LED-powered blue illuminator is suitable for jobs where possible UV damage to a sample is a concern, while the white light converter makes life easier for scientists who like to visually examine protein gels.
Lighting conditions and camera controls – including zoom, focus, and aperture – can be adjusted manually, and filter switching via the filter drawer is a quick operation, says Syngene. The company’s GeneSys imaging software helps guide users to the most appropriate filter and lighting combination.
Once captured, gel images can be quickly analysed using GeneTools, an image analysis software.
Laura Sullivan, Syngene’s divisional manager, commented: “InGenius3 is designed for viewing gels in laboratories where bench space is limited, but doesn’t compromise on performance. Capturing great gel images every time has never been easier”.
