The new LM20 Microfluidizer from Microfluidics, available in the UK and Ireland from Analytik, is a digitally controlled high-shear fluid processor capable of processing batches from 14ml up to 100ml/minute continuously.
The LM20 is said to be the first device of its type to offer digital control of processing pressure via a touchscreen.
This makes it easier to control its scalable submicron size reduction and disruption, says the company.
The Microfluidizer operates by converting high fluid pressures to intense shear forces, with an intensifier pump to ensure constant pressure is applied to materials to drive them through fixed-geometry microchannels.
This enables the device to create emulsions and dispersions, produce liposomes, perform delicate cell disruption operations, and de-agglomerate fine particles.
Analytik product specialist James Anderson says: “The LM20 bridges the gap between the ultra-low volume LV1 and the flagship M110P while introducing modern features such as the fully digital operation”.
