PROMISING the widest range of features and cost-savings of any entry-level flash purification system on the market, the new Isolera Prime from Biotage is aimed at chemists needing an automated purification platform to increase productivity. This upgradeable new system can expand along with growing companies and academic institutions, and is compatible with all major Flash cartridges.
Coupled with the launch of the Isolera Prime, Biotage has introduced a lower cost Flash cartridge – the Biotage Zip. These are compatible with Isolera Prime, as are the company’s existing Biotage Snap cartridges.
Despite its budget price, Biotage says the system is fully featured. Included is a patented TLC-to-Gradient feature that eliminates method development guesswork, and a solvent-saving gradient optimisation function that reduces solvent use by up to 60%.
Isolera Prime operates at flow rates up to 100ml/min with a pressure range up to 10bar (145psi). The built-in detector (fixed 254nm or variable wavelength 200–400nm) detects aromatic and conjugated organic compounds and can trigger fractionation using threshold, slope, or volume parameters. For UV-transparent compounds, an evaporative light-scattering detector (ELSD) is available.
“We recognise the importance of delivering value-priced instruments while continuing to raise the bar of technical performance” says Toshiyuki Yachi, Biotage’s vice president of marketing. “The Isolera Prime, as well as the Biotage value-priced flash cartridges, demonstrates our understanding of the changing needs of our customers and our commitment to their success”.
