A HANDHELD spectrometer particularly suited to the characterisation and measurement of the output of LEDs and other light sources is now available in the UK and Ireland from Analytik. The GL Optic Mini-Spectrometer includes dedicated software to automatically calculate important parameters including colour temperature and colour rendering index.
A range of accessories enables specialised measurements to be taken. These include a 48mm integrating sphere to facilitate the measurement of the luminous flux of LEDs, and a display sensor optical probe for measurement of the luminance of flat screen LCD displays.
The Mini-Spectrometer is small enough to be hand held and promises high sensitivity and precise calibration. It is powered via a USB connection to a PC, it can start taking measurements within ten minutes of start-up.
The new availability of the device in the UK and Ireland is the result of a collaboration between Analytik and German manufacturer GL Optic. The device can be used for everyday quality control of light sources, and for field work by quality engineers and other professionals involved in measuring the quality of light.
