GENEVAC promises a new benchmark for enhanced evaporation and lyophilisation with its new SuperCool 75 condenser, when used in conjunction with the HT-12 high throughput evaporator.
Preparing dried powder samples from HPLC purification fractions is a routine laboratory task, and Genevac’s proprietary LyoSpeed fast lyophilisation method on the HT-12 works well for many sample types, especially hydrophilic samples. A weakness arises when the sample is soluble in other solvents, which can lead to the compound ‘crashing out’ when the organic solvent is removed. The result is an oily fraction which requires further processing to be reduced to a dry powder.
The company says it has solved this issue with the SuperCool 75, which chills samples to -75C. The device emplys the highest power condenser currently available in this market, leading to greatly improved results. Genevac cites customer trials which have shown theĀ HT-12/SuperCool 75 combination produces dry powders from even the most difficult lyophilisation samples with a success rate up to 95%.
A technical paper on high throughput lyophilisation of HPLC samples from mixed aqueous/organic solutions is available from Genevac.
