Control O2 and CO2 in the microplate reader

FULLY regulated independent control of oxygen (O2) and carbon dioxide (CO2) within a microplate reader is the promise made by BMG Labtech’s Atmospheric Control Unit (ACU). Available for the Omega microplate reader range, the microprocessor-controlled ACU offers dual independent control of both gases within the microplate reading chamber.

CO2 can be regulated from 0 to 20%, and O2 from 1 to 19%, eliminating the need to change gas cylinders or piped supplies to reproduce specific physiological conditions for cell-based assays. The gases can be regulated independently of one another.

The Omega range offers a range of other features, such as temperature control up to 65C and shaking (orbital, double orbital, and linear), allowing it to reproduce many physiological conditions and thus making cell-based assays more biologically relevant.

These microplate readers can measure multiple detection modes including fluorescence polarisation (FP), fluorescence intensity, high-performance luminescence, time-resolved fluorescence (TRF), TR-Fret, and UV/vis spectrometer based absorbance. Multimode operation is available and offers advantages for applications including mammalian cell assays, stem cell assays, migration studies, hypoxia, cell viability and proliferation, ischemia/reperfusion, and others.

Adding the ACU to an Omega microplate reader allows extended cell experiments to be conducted without user intervention, freeing laboratory staff from supervision requirements.
